The Drop

The Drop by Michael Connelly

Reviewed by L. Bennett

If you are a fan of detective Harry Bosch you will recognize the structure of this novel. Harry Bosch has two cases to solve, one a current death and the other a death several years old. The Drop is fast-paced, intriguing, and entertaining.

The current case is the suicide of a former cop turned attorney. Solving it reveals troubles with Harry’s new partner, tension with his former partner, and the distrust Harry feels with the hierarchy of the police department. The second one is a cold case murder that fires up Harry’s passion for putting the bad guy away for good. It involves sexual abuse, torture, and methodical recordation. In the end, however, the deck of cards looks pretty unsteady. A perfect opener for the next novel in the Harry Bosch series.
