Ani was about to inherit her mother's throne when the queen left the inheritance to Ani's younger brother. After Ani left town, Selia, Ani's ex-lady-in-waiting was trying to kill her. Ani went to Bayern and disguised herself as a Forest girl. She found a job at the castle. She meets new friends, who don't suspect anything of her. Enna, her new-found friend, finds out her true identity, and Ani explains everything to her. Together, they fight Selia and earn the king's respect. This is truly a moving story about a young teenager who finds herself, new friends, and her true love.
